Potatoman9 : Remove my scores for Mario kart 64 and Mario kart super circuit
7 Nachricht(en) normal
Hello,
By asking to remove your scores from Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart Super Circuit, you mean that you used emulator fo these 2 games, right ?
If yes, then you did not respect VGR Rules, that you should read and agree when you suscribed.
VGR Rules link is also shown in the How it works starting window, before suscribing.
Since VGR site version 7 arrival in January 2021, we have now some visual differences, but the main Rules are unchanged.
We also added Rules (specific and general too) in the main page of each game, that you can and should also read.
So, even with all of this, if you used emulator, it is still forbidden here.
Thanks to warn us about your own situation, but you did not respect the Rules, and we can't ignore this, unfortunately.
Then you should understand that we will be obliged to apply a 1st level ban, for a period of 4 months.
Do you have other details to mention here ? Did you used emulators in your 15 games collection ?
Last, if the game Super Mario Kart don't exist for Switch version, then you should check if there is no differences with the original one, and after, propose it for mixing it, or create a new game if there is gameplay differences.
I strongly encourage you to learn about the site works, and to find informations by yourself.
If you have questions or doubts, don't hesitate to discuss in the forum, or in Discord if you prefer (but then it is more informal, and quickly forgotten).
I will wait for your answers before applying a potential ban.
For me, He don't deserve any ban here. As soon as Proof Admins see his proofs send by himself, I ask him to come on Discord to know if he used Emulator and He directly said the truth on his submission simply because like many members he dont know about this rules. As I keep saying this important and main rule is not clearly and easily show on the website if you are not curious enough. Check proof admin channel for me detail on this case. There is no cheating case here and Potatoman had reply fast and work with us on this topic. As you want
Thanks for your comments, Djon.
You said "he said the truth", "there is no cheating case", but then it is still not clear: did he used emulator, or not ?
It will be better if he gives explanations here now, in VGR.
For the Rules, like I said there is 3 different ways to check them (and notably one more since v7).
Maybe there is this kind of visibilty problem for Rules, but people should also read Rules when they suscribe. My opinion is that's like in life, with notices and contracts (commercial, administrative, financial, family, ...): you need to read them before accepting them.
Last time we discussed about it (in Admins Council), I think it was decided to not put Rules for each score you send.
That's why we decided to add Rules in the game main page.
We thought is was enough like that, because it was a supplementary thing compared to v6.
Admins can also add specific Rules for games, if needed, then a warning logo triangle appears.
I advice you to write again the general rule there: emulator is forbidden.
So, well, if this improvement seems to be not enough sufficient, it needs a new discussion about it, we will find a better solution.
Last, for instance there is nothing written in the Proof Admin thread in VGR, so I suppose you are talking about another place. I remind you (again) that if something needs to be clarified or done, it should be on VGR (I agree it was difficult with v7 arrival, but now the VGR forum is functional, and there was not so many complains about it, so please use it).
With VGR we can classify things and remind them, even years after.
VGR is the main site, for reminder ...
Very sorry for late reply. Yes I used an emulator for Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: super circuit scores. I truthfully had no idea about that rule here. I very briefly heard others discussing emulators at www.cyberscore.com, another video game record posting website, but I really didn't know it was banned there or here. If you'd like to remove my scores for those 2 games, you absolutely can.
Thanks for informing me and helping me not get banned Djon! :]
Oh and for the Super Mario Kart on switch, so far I havent seen any difference between it and the original SNES one. You can look more into the game if you have it for switch if you think I missed anything.
P.S.: I may be getting a N64 and DS lite to play MK64 and Mario Kart: super circuit (DS lite also takes GBA games)soon, so I'll let you know when I get those and I can send a picture proof with my first record for them so you can see that when I have the original consoles
Thanks for your honest answer, Potatoman9.
If you used an emulator, then we will apply the 1st level of ban, for a 4 months period.
Sorry but we can't make exceptions even if you seems to regret this.
It will be an opportunity for you to learn about your errors, learn about how the site works, and have more time to better classify your records and proove them (you have only 3 proven scores on 275).
After seeing the creating date of this topic, the end of ban will be fixed for 4th July, 2021 (nice coincidence, probably easier to remember).
During this period you can continue to use forums, but you can't post new or updated scores.
Your emulated scores from Mario Kart 64 (PAL, N64/Wii), Mario Kart (NTSC, N64/Wii) and Mario Kart Super Circuit are now deleted.
Specific Rules have been edited for these 3 games (it could be done before by Djon, but he did not).
Due to this case, we will discuss how to better specify Rules, to make them more clear as it is already.
But I think we can't avoid other errors or misunderstandings like this in the future, even with best efforts.
I let this topic in the Cheater's zone, because now the Archives are not visible anymore since v7, which should be corrected later (to make them visible again).
