Right, but you still need a Megadrive/Genesis to play the game. The SEGA CD is not a "stand alone system" (I don't know if you understand me lol).

Yes but it still needs it's own AC adapter. And it is consider a different console, that's why you have sega CD games. It isn't called the sega genesis, it is called the sega CD.  Like the sega 32x, that as well is consider a different console.

for some odd reason, VGR does not classify sega CD, 32x, gameboy color games seperately since they are basically add-ons to existing consoles. I think it would be better to classify them seperately.

I agree with you. It would be better.
