The series ranking

This topic will aim to discuss the series ranking, I will list all the comments and series suggestions on this first message.

There are only two constraints The series must be represented by 5 games on VGR, and bring them together by theme and gameplay.

I still have series images and badges to do for the next series already planned, I'm at 74.65% of my goal, but at 80%, the series ranking will be viable For now, I'm thinking about the series ranking interface.

Je propose plusieurs séries:

Série des V-Rally, Série des ColinMcRae Rally et enfin série des Sega Rally

Pour les V-Rally, il manque un représentant sur VGR pour en faire une série
il faut 5 jeux pour créer une série. J'ai choisi 5 jeux minimum pour réduire le nombre de série éligible, il y a déjà pas mal de travail.

Pour les Colin McRae Rally, il me semble que c'est le meme problème
la series Dirt devrait avoir sa propre séries
Pour Sega Rally c'est prévu

As you rightly chosen, there is already a "minimum 5 games" limit to create a series.
So actually, you just need more details and infos about other series with different names, that you probably don't know, right ?
For example, if a game with "Sonic" or "Mario" inside, can be compared and integrated to the series ?

Then, I can help you for some series, but as I already said in the past when you decided to create the series, I think it will be better to refer to another (official) website, rather than to merge VGR members (different) opinions.

The addition of new series will restart

The series page has evolved and with it the official release of the series ranking with the series badges and their history,
the list of series is now scrollable so it no longer takes up the entire top of the page,
each series is divided into 3 tabs.
The first is for ranking.
The second is for the list of games.
and the third will be to have a little history of each series

There are currently ninety active series.
I have planned around sixty additional ones which will be activated little by little while it takes time to list all the games, make the images and series badges.

With so many series I realize that I have to make some small modifications for the first ones added.

When I planned the series ranking, I wanted to make only two constraints.
The first is that the series must be coherent, in theme and gameplay.
and the second is that you need at least 5 games in the series, it's mainly to avoid finding myself a lot of series at once. 5 seemed correct to me and then we can go to 4, when the big wave is over.

For future additions.
 I'm going to go with more or less known sagas like:
Asphalt, Bejeweled, Command & Conquer, Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero

But I would also like to go on the sports series.
for this one there will be two categories.
either it is a sport licensed by several publishers at the same time and there is separation like FIFA and PES, or golf and basketball with EA and 2K
and if it's an official license that changes publisher but generally one at a time, depending on agreements such as F1 or the Olympic Games, and just like games unrelated to sport such as tetris games. So for them I will group them under the official license.
It's not easy and I have to think about a lot of things. But if you have ideas or advice but also errors and forgets in the list of games in a series, you are on the right topic to talk about it.

I planned some additional features for the series ranking but now the basics are there, you can fight for your favorite series and receive your badges even if, like for consoles, there are big difference in points

I'm not sure I understand what you've wrote on the sport series. But I'd like to point out that if you're currently clicking on the Games Tab (on the left) then series list, it points straight to Mario Kart Series and you can not find any series list.

When you are on the series list, there's a sidebar on the right side of the website where you can choose the serie you want. 😁

Like TJ7 said, the Games tab/Series list goes to Mario Kart Series, it's not well done like that.
This is also very confusing:
- because you search a series in the games tab. A solution can be adding a series tab in the home page, but I think it is not really a good idea.
- because some series have the same name than the games. I can understand, but then, you should increase the "Series" word in the picture. Writing "Mario Kart Series" can be done, but I think this is not a good idea for the list and design/visibility.
- because you choose a game picture for representing a whole series. I can understand why, of course.

For ideas and advice how to make or define a series, as I already told you (at least twice), you should not think about all these problems, and refer to another (official and now professional) site like Mobygames.

The drop-down strip for selecting the series is located above the image, which allows everyone to select a series without having to move to the bottom of the site for small screens.
The ideal would be to put it in place of the name of the series to have it next to the image and not take up extra space but I don't have the skills to do that

La bande déroulante pour sélectionner les séries se trouve au dessus de l'image, ce qui permet à tout le monde de sélectionner une série sans avoir à décentre tout en bas du site pour les petits écran
L'idéal serai de la mettre à la place du nom de la série pour l'avoir à coté de image et pas prendre de place en plus mais je n'ai pas les compétence pour le faire
La création de nouvelle séries va reprendre en janvier

Please remind what I wrote here last 11th September, because it's still confusing (and probably more confusing for newcomers).
In Games, Series list, I suggest you to at least add few words in the first line, like "Series selection: /Sélection de la série:", simply because the name of the series is still the same as the game...
 

The interface actually needs to be rethought, and all the pages need to be rethought. But the problem is that Magicbart is the only one developing the site and he has other priorities.
