so i bought a few dramcast games this past week, 1 of being V RALLY 2 EXPERT EDITION
so only had a few races and attempts etc but now comparing some times on here and i seem to be smashing the times so far and so before i post anything up just want to make sure that it will be right, as in dreamcast version when you go to the game scores screen there are only 4 options, the ps1 version there are 5 options
game mode
countries
stages
clear scores
my time for time attack ss01 portugal is 55:70 after 3 attempts my first is 59.74
thats over 30 seconds faster than here,
time attack ss01 finland 1:12:64 after 3 attempts 2nd was 1:17:64
again over 13 seconds faster than here
but time attack corsica ss03 im not even hitting the 1st checkpoint till 52 seconds and finish with 2:38:59
and on here finished is 1:20 and 1:24 so im over 70 seconds behind.
so not sure if they are the same versions
so I want to make sure tracks are not shorter/longer etc before i go and add my scores in and there is a big difference between versions
thanks

For SS1 Portugal, there is 3 members in 5 sec, I made at least 5 attemps to made it (between 1min29" and 1min40"), and greendayseb (Legendary Member and racing game specialist) made 1'29" too in 3 attempts: I think these are sufficient signs.
So if you made just below 1 min in your first attempt :wtf:, there is probably a difference of versions in this game.
Same for SS01 Finland or SS03 Corsica.
Can you make a video of it, or a new attempt ? Because I still have the PS1 version :ok:, so I will be able to compare with your videos...
Just download it in the Game Menu, in order to check this.

Zephyraz, I also have the V-Rally 2 Expert Edition, I can check if needed.
Just tell me which video you would like to see (which race, car etc..), and if I can, I will send it to you a link.
I'm just too busy to propose the game on VGR, but making a video is not too time-consuming

Done a portugal ss01 in citeron xsara
first lap is a 59.54
2nd lasp 56.90
3rd is just stopped to take a pic
I guess the scores we'll have to add are the scores you can see in "best scores" section, with all the details, by country, lap (ss01 to 07) and even the others mode (arcade...)

Yes, the 'best scores'section is the only one where you can see all the details clearly written, which is acceptable for proofs.
MBA, please check if your time in SS01 Portugal appears and is saved in the Scores Menu.
Édit: Basile, the picture from your game on Dreamcast shows à loop circuit.
I just tried this game few minutes ago, and I made more than 2 min in my 1st try, and 1'49 in my 2nd. More important and crucial détail: the PS track for SS01 Portugal is not à loop at all (I saw it in the Replay)
So, DC and PS versions are not the same, we need to split them !
Or just create à new DC game, and delete the DC tag.
I suppose all the actual players in VGR played on PS, I will check if there is strange times tomorrow.
Last thing:my PS game version is called V-Rally 2 Championship Edition.
So I suggest to recall the actual game like this, and to create the DC new one as V-Rally 2 Expert Edition.

Yes, it's a loop circuit.
I assume we just need to create a new game, and delete the DL tag in the other one.
Or just renaming the game as you propose.

I checked all the records of this game, and I didn't see big gaps in tracks.
Except those from benriggers, but I saw with his proofs that he played on PS, but with a more powerful car.
So I suppose other members played on PS version.
I will ask them by PM to confirm this. MepH is the only one to be absent of VGR since more than 1 year.
I will now create a Modification/Suggestion topic to:
- delete the DC tag from this PS game
- change the name of this game to V-Rally 2 Championship Edition
A new game V-Rally 2 Expert Edition needs to be created for Dreamcast (I will not do it, because there can be differences, so MBA who owns this game should propose it).
I will also add and remind in the Rules/Comments of this game to take care and respect exactly the system of these games (which should be a basic principle in VGR...)
