Hi guys,
Searching on a 1942 submission, I tumbled on this score and user Hyatus. The NES pictures are clearly not done on original hardware. As you can see the screen/font has been smoothened which can only been done via a filter on an emulator. The games he posted are not on the NES mini by the way.
Maybe the user is not aware that emulators an sich can't be used.
Can a proof admin look into this?
If I am wrong, mea culpa.
Thanks

Indeed the games are on an emulator. I didn't know this is forbidden. I have all the original cartridges.I'll see if my old consoles still work and I'll be back.By the way,the record of 1942 NES game seems to be on an emulator too.Thank you for the warning.
PS.There are tons of records on emulators.Especially Atari 2600 and NES.(All Amidar records but maybe I'm wrong)

Thanks for you quick and honest answer.
Now that we know that you played on emulator, but you also own some original cartridges, please give us the list of games you played with emulator, in order to delete them.
Sorry, but it is written in the VGR rules that emulator (non-official ones) are forbidden here, and you agreed these rules when you suscribed to VGR.
So, we will be obliged to punish this bad behaviour by a ban, but we can probably reduce the time of it if you continue to be honest and make your emulator games list.
Don't hesitate to tell us all the games you know where there can be an emulator use.
Don't hesitate also to ask for proofs when there is nothing yet (especially for 1st places records).
For the problems you mentioned, I will contact the concerned members (PMniac for 1942, and Barthax for Amidar) to make this clear.

Thanks for having made the situation more clear, and for having respected the other members in these games.
@admins: Now admins, please delete the scores of Hyatus in the games he listed.
Also, because he didn't respected the VGR Rules, there should be a ban...
This is also a warning for everybody here, to remind that non-official emulators are forbidden here.
But admins can decide if his ban will be for 3 months, 6 months, or more.
Because Hyatus helped us quickly and seems honest, I suggest to reduce the ban to the minimum.

Hello.
I've been contacted today by Zephyraz , and it seems someone suspects I play 1942 on emulator.
1- I'm very aware that submitting emulated scores to VGR is strictly forbidden so, I don't do it.
2- I'm using a NTSC NES to play NES games
3- To capture the footage I record it with Elgato Game Capture HD.

Hope this clears any doubts. Also check www.twitch.tv/pmniac for live footage of my gameplay :D

TLDR; Got a PM about this thread concerning Amidar on Atari 2600 - not sure the reference as I'm rarely here. A quick scan of Amidar Atari 2600 & I recognise myself and ZilchSr. We both use real Atari 2600 for those scores - it's an incredibly simple pattern game.
Garret Holland (ZilchSr): https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/211265 (literally seen playing the Atari 2600)
Andrew Mee (Barthax): https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/140175 (grainy old RF capture)
HTH resolves any concerns over these scores. :)

Hyatus should not be banned btw. He was honest and knows he has made a mistake. Can you enforce a warning system instead? Because if we are being honest (no offense) did everyone read every single word of the rulebook? Of course I did! but every member that signs up here can't memorize the entire rulebook. Yes, you can't use an emulator, but maybe a week or 2 ban, since he isnt in the tourney.
Just my opinion on reading this...dont sue me lol

I absolutely agree! I must confess that I recently got a warning about using an emulator late February/early March. Similarly to hyatus, I was not at all aware of this rule. I was also honest about which games I used an emulator for. That most likely helped my case, because I’m pretty sure i only received a warning. I didn’t get a ban I think, so If Hyatus is telling the truth, I personally don’t think a ban longer than a month is necessary. Just my opinion on it :)
