Moving On

Good afternoon, or evening for anyone in Europe.
Let me start out by saying how blessed I am for being a part of this community for nearly 6 years! I had so much fun competing and improving as a player, I thoroughly enjoyed all the moments. The amount of individuals that I got to know, the records broken, and so much more. It's insane to me that this was something I did and actually had fun doing...
Alas, those times have passed. I have been offline for awhile and have taken time to reflect on it. I have since deleted Pokemon Go and shelved most of my games (save for Smash Ultimate). I have a Switch Lite, but that is for another reason...
I am in my fifth year at the University and am nearing the start of my future career as a music educator. I can't believe time flew by so fast, but here we are. Life has gotten more and more serious as the days go on, and with more ensembles, less classes to account for, and more time on my hands, I'm making a decision that is best for me as an individual.
I am stepping away from VGR.
I am doing this because there is no reason for me to keep doing something that I can't devote enough time to. I would love to devote hours to grinding out a specific record, or churning out attempts on levels, but with new responsibilities and hobbies pushing through, this site has been cast aside...
Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to keep competing. I mean, at my University, they just introduced the Varsity Esports teams. I am on the Smash Bros. Ultimate Team! I have had such a blast this past semester and made new friends, and its...man, its been fun. Maining Yoshi and Hero, with Secondaries in Roy and Wolf, I have had so much fun learning and improving over the fall semester.
And because of the team practices and matches, because of the six ensembles and 50+ pieces of music a semester I have to practice and learn, because of the classes and my desire for straight A's, because of my two dogs who I love so much, because of my drive for excellence, and because of my hobbies in story writing fiction/adventure novels online and building Lego sets, I am putting aside my account on VGR...
Maybe, just maybe, I will return in the future for a couple of days. Maybe there will be new records under my name again...
Until then, I am stepping away to focus on myself as an individual and to put this part of me into the memory banks. They will stay there as a constant reminder of all the fun I had and all the individuals I got to know on this site.
For the team that took me in and welcomed me with open arms, thank you. Between Hell and Heaven has been a phenomenal experience, and the encouragement you gave me will stick with me. That final singles tournament of VGR version 6 sticks with me...I lost my grandpa during it...to Covid19 no less...and winning the tournament brought me out of that darkness...
Thank you to Yuri, Basile, ThePandaEmperor, Joujou, Tseko, Vivi, BlackCydonia, Emrald, Markanid, Sigeth, TheRubyMoon, and Marth996 for being such inspirational teammates. I appreciate everything you have done and all the hard work we put in to make this team what it was.
For the VGR community, thank you. I appreciate all the fun we had, and the memories I made will last until I leave this world for good.
Other than that, I want to say that although a return seems unlikely for me, maybe...I'll come back...

Hello MWT 2.0,
I understand the need to take a break once in a while, although it might be drastic to simply cut off almost every game I'm glad to hear you're moving forward. I saw your name popping quite a lot those past months and I'm sure some of your records will stand for a while until maybe you decide to retry them. In the meantime VGR will grow more strong ! And you'll always be welcome to support and share with us. Good luck with your music and I hope you're not planning on deleting all your videos I intended to watch some more of your channel, hahaha !
Thanks for adverting us about your break, and for your nice message.🙂
I'm pretty sure, or I strongly hope, that you will come back when you will have some free time, just to know if your records will stay, or be beaten.
Also, note that you "only" have 65 games on your collection, and with time (and money), you will probably be able to increase your collection in the future. If video games is still a passion for you, of course.
At least, note that personnally, more than 80% of my games on VGR were played after I joined this site in 2010, when I was more than 30 years old 😎 (and when I finished studies and had a stable job).
So you potentially have a big progression margin (and I even don't speak about your proofs ratio, less than 50%), when you will come back.
Even with few records or just for fun, you're always welcome. 😉
Don't forget to talk about VGR around you, or with younger people, or with everyone you see playing ... because you know how interesting it can be.
Enjoy your break, see you.
