Downloadable Content

Hi everyone,

I would like to know if downloadable content is approved for (some) games. Lately i've been playing Split second velocity, and there is a gamemode "detonator", where you can set laptime with a mandatory car.

This is all good, but someone posted a few very fast times. after contact with VGR for proof management, I found out that the time was set with a different car by using downloadable content.

So what are the rules for this? is downloadable content always approved, or are there exceptions for games with play modes like this?

If downloadable content is allowed by developpers and accessible for all ( doesn't mean free ) DLC, and "not free items" can be used in games.
It can be seen as "pay to win" score version xP
In the way that's not cheating (see topic on "what's cheating?"), like a R4 on DS which allows you to fly with mario for exemple.That's not made by developpers, and even if it's accessible for all, that's not the game, that's cheat.

If the downloadable content is not available anymore, that's a problem :/

Could you tell me please what kind of downloadable content the car you're talking of is ? I mean, is it a free downloadable content which can be obtain by every player ? Is it a DLC which costs money ? Is it something different ?

thank you for your quick response :) Looking at the video evidence the downloadable content looks legid, the car used for the record exists in the game also, so no foulplay there. i guess de DLC is accessible for everyone, i just didn't go after it, my loss perhaps ;)

My question was more like: is DLC allowed in General? most of the posted "detonator" times are set with the mandatory cars in split second velocity, so no dlc was used here, and then there were these 2 records, which no one seemed to get close to. That's why I figured someone might have found a cheat, but after seeing the video you gave me I concluded it was done with DLC.

DLC are allowed.
If the scores show if You uses a DLC or not for tour score, ask to add DLC specific scores for your game.
If the DLC add new tracks or lvl, add them too in add game forum.
If the DLC unlock Just new cars and only the best time is tegistred, si nothing to do, Just get the DLC if it allows you to do best times and be first at This game.
Just care tobrealy know if DLC is legal and if it's realy that which allows the player to get that score.

Ok, I will look into the possibilities of DLC.

In this case there was no doubt about it, since the original level had a mandatory car, and the specific record time was set with a different car. And I unlocked every other thing in te game without DLC, so no extra options to play free.

If it was a mandatory car, buy a DLC doesn't not change the lvl rules right? :/
After all, i don't know the game well xD but maybe try to check the content of the DLC if it realy has what you want.
It's not because a DLC exists that nobody has cheated.
Had you try to send private messages to the player who did this scores ?
Is there similar scores on other score gaming website (like Cyberscore) ?
A last problem could be differents version between EU and America, gl :P

i've seen video proof from speedrun.com, that's how I found out how he did it. I don't mind, I will try DLC some time, but he posted only 2 scores in the game, the rest of the posts are all possible records in this game without dlc or a cheat.
