Cbanks ?

I open this Topic for the player Cbanks, because I noticed that some of his proofs are way too clean compared to the version posted for example on the Game Boy version of Pac-Man
https://www.video-games-records.com/en/pac-man-game-g1864/all-records-group-g6562/best-score-chart-c123702/index
On Mario Bros with the Atari 2600 version also the photo is too clean compared to the support

And with Pac-Man World 3 on the PSP, it's not even if it's this game or another no guarantee

I would like to remind everyone who will read this that only official emulators are allowed on VGR.
2.2 Prohibited practices
All of the following are prohibited:
- Cheat codes;
- Action Replay or equivalent system;
- Unofficial emulated games (emulated games: replicated game on a platform it had not been developed for). Official emulation (on Virtual Console [Wii] and Nintendo eShop [Wii U, 3DS]) is authorized, as well as games on console allowing backward compatibility games;
- Continues (continuing a level after a Game Over screen) if they don't reset or lower your score;
- Unofficial patches, mods or other game elements;
- Modifying a game, a controller (pad), a console or a game accessory in order to improve scores or facilitate their realization;
- In a general way, any practice which isn't integrated in the original game or which makes competition between players unfair.
before leaving on a cheating topic it is good to contact him before and ask him if he knows that emulation is prohibited and if he has posted scores with emulator
I'm sure some problems can be solved without a topic. maybe the rule of forbidden emulators could be on the home page in the box when you are not connected so that it is more visible
daftpunk, did you contact cbanks with Personal Message, after the creation of this topic, or before ?
Because he logged today on VGR...
He should have a 15 delays delay to answer, from the moment where he was contacted.
The Rules can be found easily on the home page.
VGR members, who suscribed, are supposed to read and accept the Rules.
Note that the emulator use is responsible of around 36% (only) of bans since 2020.
I agree that we can also indicate again that emulator use is forbidden in the "visitors" VGR home page, but also in some Game Rules when we know where there can be such potential problems.
Also note that cbanks sent 2 "0" scores in Ms. Pac-Man (Atari 2600).
For reminder, "0" scores are forbidden in VGR.
cbanks, we are waiting for your answer here please, before 5th October.
Did you used emulator on the 3 concerned games where you're accused, and on Ms. Pac-Man (Atari 2600) too ?
Yeah, I did use emulators on a few games and then I was contacted by daftpunk not to use them. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. I have stopped using them. I told him that I would remove scores where I used an emulator. I tried to but I can't delete them so I just entered a zero for the scores.
An admin requested that I prove a couple of scores so I sent in a couple of new scores that are actually higher than the proof that was requested. I did the new scores with a different platform than the original. It didn't let me change the score or the platform.
@cbanks
I'd need to know which scores on which games and which plateforms are concerned. I've already deactivated a couple of your scores when I was checking some days ago but I think this will cause some issue if I deactivate some more, so it will help if you could tell me since when you stopped posting emulated scores.
If no ban time applies I could simply wipeout all the mentionned scores, it takes time and we're already full of work, but I can do it.
The game that I resubmitted proof was on this game: Namco Museum 50th Anniversary (GameCube, PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox). For Dig Dug and Pac-Man. But I resubmitted for PC instead of GameCube and I couldn't edit my new score either.
I zeroed out my scores on Mario Bros. for Atari 2600.
I also zeroed out my score on Pac-Man World 3 for PlayStation Portable. It's in the Museum section.
I also zeroed out my score on Pac-Man - Special Color Edition for Game Boy / Color.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for these clear explanations.
Actually, we found another problem here, for Pac-Man (Game Boy Color/Game Gear):
How can you explain this Game Boy game was played on a DS lite system ?
Can you detail us your DS lite configuration/set up ?
How did you get/bought this game ?
Hi cbanks,
The key point here is that GB/GBC games are not natively compatible with the DS. To my knowledge only on the GBA, GameBoy player on the GameCube and super GB player on the SNES.
The EZ Flash Omega uses an (unofficial) emulator, Goomba, to play GB/GBC games 😉
Using flashcards or other virtual content devices as such are, as I understood and read many years ago on these forums, not prohibited here.
15 days period for answer is now over, it's now time to deal this.
1) For reminder, emulation is not allowed in VGR since the beginning of the site in 2003, this is written in the Rules (that everybody should read when you subscribed).
This has been treated in the past with many debates, so I invite you to write “emulation” or “emulator” in the search toolbar, and read all the topics about it, it will avoid us many repetitions and time losses.
Even recently with v7 arrival in 2021, we discussed again about this, and the conclusion was the same.
Quickly and basically (and one more time …), you can’t rely on things that are not equal or fair for everybody, or with things which have too many ways to change settings.
Honestly, it is also a problem of time for us, and we are not enough volunteers to deal these problems and differences.
2) So, because you obviously used an emulator, as you admited, we will be obliged to apply the appropriate sanction.
Then, sorry but you will be banned for a 4 months period, so until the 05/02/2023.
During this period, it means you can’t send any scores, but you can still log in and write messages.
The concerned records where you sent "0" scores will be deleted, in:
Mario Bros (Atari 2600)
Pac-Man World 3 (PSP)
Ms Pac-Man (Atari 2600)
3) During your 4 months ban period, I invite you to tell us every game used with emulator (if some are remaining), in order to delete them and give you a second chance with a clean profile.
When you used an "old" system, like Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Atari 7800 or even 20th century devices, now it will be also good to show your owned system, to avoid problems with emulators or new mini-systems (which have different gameplays options).
The goal is always to play with equal conditions for fairly compare your scores, and trust our site.
Also please communicate and give us more details if there is missing platforms, but only if you're sure that versions are equal, then we can group them (for Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, for example ?)
Remind that because you used emulator, people can be more dubitative with you in the future.
I hope this 4 months period of ban will allow you to come back with better intentions, and that you will be more vigilant with details and Rules in the future.
Thanks for understanding.
4) For other things, I don't see where it was written that using flashcards like the EZ Flash Omega (which uses an unofficial emulator, Goomba, to play GB/GBC games) is allowed here ?
This needs more details and investigations. GTi, can you help us to find this in the Forum ?
5) For Game Boy or Game Boy Color games which were played on Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP, it is just compatible games on new systems.
The gameplay don't change, that's why the games remain with their original tag and version, where they were sold.
Hi Zeph,
I didn't say that the EZ Flash is allowed. It uses a built-in emulator to play GB/GBC games on the NDS. So it is obvious it is not allowed here to post scores under that category.
For other virtual content drives, there were some forum messages from admins stating such devices are allowed as they just load in the content. As long as it is played on original hardware.

As long as you use a non-modified ROM (Modification of the game's code) and play fairly without any cheats (Cheat-codes), yes it's allowed on the original console.
(Add \"The following things are prohibited: \" before the red sentences and you have a part of the Article 5.)
"
To be extra clear,
I can assume that all the currents proofs in waiting were done on emulators ? Dr. Mario, Ms. Pac-man, Wario Ware Inc., ... what about Super Monkey Ball ? I still have a ton of those so it would speed up the process if I know if I got to refuse them or try to delete them.
@zephyraz, if I refuse them it will block his account, no ?
