Xbox Series

It's been a while Xbox Series has been created but no games have been added yet. Though, there are a lot of existing games for which we can add the platform to.

Retrocompatibility is not a reason to add the platform for games which are not sold and released in a next-gen version, I think.
Otherwise, you need to add all Playstation1 game
for Playstation 2, or all the Megadrive/Genesis games which can be plugged and played in Megadrive/Genesis, for example…
I would imagine in some cases it could be useful information to know which platform the record was played on. Backwards compability is not done the same way with all consoles. Some actually have the old hardware inside, like I would imagine is the case with PS2 to play PS1 games and Wii to play Gamecube. But sometimes, like with Xbox, I believe this is done through emulation. With emulation, some levels in some games may run slower/faster than on the original for example. It's possible.
Just a thought.
When I said “sold and released”, I meant physically, at least, with the specific cover+book+box+disk set.
This seems to be only digital “releases”.
I will check if I found some of the listed games in a new XBox Series or PS5 version, in my commercial center shop, next week.
But for some “old” games I know, I don't think this is reasonable to add them if it's not their original system when they were released. Also, moreover if it concerns a big amount like this.
People need to buy them first, then check and compare if there's no gameplay differences, or special options in next-gen systems.
What about game memory/saves ?
Same limits, or capacity or speed increased ?
I think it's better to wait that some people own these games, one by one, for confirmation. Like VGR does in the past, I suppose, for HD/ non-HD games, for example.
Remember that's always really worse and difficult to separate versions, than to mix or add a new one. Remember what happened with WiiU/3DS/Switch versions, errors made in the past and time it tooks to come back to regular situation (which is still in progress for these examples, by the way…)
It's better to take care, than to regret after.
It can also induce a new problem for System Proofs (also in progress, will be developped soon): how can you show you bought these games?
Who owns a next-gen system here in VGR and can confirm this ?
No problem to wait for people to ask for adding the games one by one.
It can also induce a new problem for System Proofs (also in progress, will be developped soon): how can you show you bought these games?
If you need a box to proove that you have the game, we gonna have a problem with the games sold since 10 years… iOS and Android to start, but today each and every plaftorm in reality. We can literally buy any game digitally nowaday. Even worse, with services like Xbox Game Pass, you pay a rent to access freely to a certain amount of games, so you don't really own it, as any game can be removed from such services at any time.
I've added this question to the document to specify platform proofs.
It can also induce a new problem for System Proofs (also in progress, will be developped soon): how can you show you bought these games?
Is there a topic on VGR about this system proof? How does it work actually? What is it for? Will it be enforced? What happens when someone doesn't give a system proof? Will the score be deleted or user banned?
Even if you own the game and system, it won't stop someone using emulator to cheat. Unless you start taking video proof that the cables actually go from your console to your tv and full video proofs for the run. Something you see in Twin Galaxies.
well say, you are right and I agree with you. But even the video is worthless, if you have two HDMI ports...
HDMI1 console, HDMI 2 emulator
When in doubt, it is good to have human explanations of how it is possible, I really think that explanations are important, otherwise only the full run is valid. Cheater one day, cheater always...
On PS4, it's an upgrade free to play with your game on your PS5. Nothing change, it's same game. You can play ps4 game on PS4 and PS5 it's affected 99% of this ps4 library.

HDMI1 console, HDMI 2 emulator
True, but if video shows no other HDMI connected.
I just say to have such proof system that doesn't really prove anything can be a waste of time and drive people off from the site if they don't like it. So that's why I asked questions, what is it for and how does it work?
