Just an idea of if you do take top spot in any game, fastest time, highest scores etc. Then it needs to have Proof

So many time I have seen people upload times/scores that are in 2nd or 3rd spot with proof using a phone picture  and then same person claims a time/score that goes top but provides no proof at all.

What is stopping me going on every single game and putting up a new time/high score and beating it my 1second or by 1 point.

There was a time when you actually had to do this. But as I remember this rule was removed about three years ago. I also cannot remember the reasons for that.

Now I remember... Too little people were posting records at the time and that rule change should make the website more attractive - especially for newcomers. But now, several years later, I don't think it has solved the issue. So why not undo that step?

You can always request a proof of a score that you deem suspicious or not possible. You just have to click the grey square next to their record and provide a reason. A Proof Admin will then review it and either accept it or deny it based on the reason and the record in question.

People have tried to cheat before and we have caught many who have tried. It's not impossible to get away with cheating here, but sooner or later, you will be caught. Don't try it. slurp
Even on sites where posting a record has more strict rules, including video only, have had cheaters in plain sight for years, and only have recently been caught. It isn't the system that stops a cheater, it is the community that does. We have to always keep our eyes open and detect any suspicious posts.

We did, at one point in time, have the 1st place prove system in place, but it seemed to have discouraged people to post scores for some reason. I guess people didn't like that they were forced to prove a score. The freedom of choosing what scores to prove is possibly why so many people liked the site in the past. It is one of the biggest reasons I like this site.

This site is pretty old. It has been through updates and changes that have affected the proofs of some (We used to have proof links to Youtube or DailyMotion, which those proofs are lost now). So some were probably proved before but now aren't.

If you have any further doubts, please ask. We are here to help. smile

Well, DEM made a really good point:

Now I'm confident that the current proof system is good and doesn't need to be changed.

Yuri :

We just have to wait the new version of VGR.

I'm really looking forward to that too. But I'm already waiting for a long time... How long will it take? Can we do something about it?

The current proof system have pros and cons, yes. But it does the job for the moment.

I can't tell you, we are waiting, but it will be release. Just be patient, as we all are smile

Good to hear that VGR V7 is still in development. It's a bit strange that there is so little new information about the progress. That made me think that nobody cares for it anymore. But now it's clear so I'll be patient. ok

sweet thanks for the update,

just some games i see i'm like wtf that's not even possible at all, but most of the games i see that don't have proof at all are obviously older games and records set in 07/08 etc years ago or people playing a series of games and having no proof for anything

but i didn't know the grey box sent a request to an admin also cos damn i have some questionable scores and obviously as people decide to play older games etc you see that some are not even possible at all. but i will now click that box if i think wow that's complete BS

i only been here a year so not been through the upgrades on the site, and well i think i'm on here almost everyday now even if its just checking to see records. but still top job you guys do here

If I post bad score on a game where there are only one other player who as even worst score. Why prove something that any new player will beat in 2-3 try.
But someone who beat the Wr in mario kart or something like that and don't prove it, is usually a cheater. Beating a really good score is an honor you want to share with the other player.
I like it that VGR trust his player, 'cause I'm a player before being a photograph.
When I'm proud of a score, I do prove it.
You will say, why post a bad score? Well, I usually post my first effort and then try to improve it. Some game I don't really like are stuck with my first attempt.
Actually I try not to do that anymore, and try to post in game I know I will want to compete.
