Hi,
most ppl know that im more a Nintendo Gamer here, but i learn more and more about the Sega Consoles and what i learned was, that the Game Gear have nealy the same (if not better) Power like a Master System.
In fact: most of the Games released on both System are exactly the same.
Why i made this Thread: i want to ask: is it possible to play the Game Gear Version for the same score like the Master System?
My example is Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse:
CoIsMM Master System
CoIsMM Game Gear
There are many more Games they are just ported 1:1 from the MS to the GG and before i ask for adding a second Scoreboard for CoI, it would be better to add the GG to the Master System.

Even if you have the impression that there are many games which looks the same on MS and GG, it is always better to possess both versions to compare them.
In some games, there can be more levels or a difference of speed, and we can't include ALL of them in the same category.
I'm not an expert, but also, a difference of the processor PAL or NTSC can change all the games or run records depending on speed (ask this to others...).
And you can add a Control stick (arcade type) to MS, but not in GG: that can change the way you play in fight games for example.
But, in the example of Castle of illusion, if you are 100% sure that there is no difference between the 2 versions, I agree for mix the 2 versions.

as far as i know Sega was just porting many Games from Master System to the Game Gear to boost the selling rate. The only real difference between the Systems are, that the Game Gear have more colors. (so MS Games works on GG with an Master Gear Converter, but theres no way to use GG Games on MS)
And your right, there are some things to need to know(PAL, NTSCect.), but in fact: Castle of Illusion is a Highscore only Game, even if there are a very small speed difference, there would be no difference in difficulty to make the same score on boths Versions.
That why i post Videos of boths Version too, to see theres no difference.
I just want to avoid having the same Game more then once for making scores, its not like an remake (like the Mega Drive/Genesis Version 8bit to 16bit)
And btw: we already have some other Games like Pinball Dreams (SNES) with an Option to play the PC Version, and i think there are more difference playing a Pinball Game on PC as on SNES

I don't have the game, but in the video there's time, which is added to the score after you beat the level? So if there's a speed difference on other platform to clear the level faster, it would result in the higher score, right?
But like you said, there are other games in vgr that probably has bigger differences between the platforms.
Never played Pinball Dreams on SNES, but I think there were some difference between PC and Amiga versions in the top part of the nightmare table.
Some racing games have PC and PS1 together, like Colin McRae Rally 2. On PC you can have higher resolution, all settings to max (longer drawing distance) and higher framerate. Which usually helps in racing games. In vgr you can't see the platform used, but I believe all the top times are made on PC.
