Mario Kart 8 looks horrible in my opinion. It looks fun to race online, etc., but for people like myself, who only care about the Time Trial aspect of the game, it looks like a nightmare. In recent years, Nintendo has released games that are friendly to bad players (this can even be seen in the "New Super Mario Bros." series in recent years). Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 are both examples of games that cater to bad players, and Nintendo really showed that they do not care for competitive Time Trial racers in Mario Kart 7, where best laps were not saved and you could not even view the best time. Mario Kart was better in the early years, where good players could not be beaten by weaker players. An example is in Mario Kart Super Circuit; not to sound like an ego-inflated asshole, but I'm willing to bet that virtually nobody on this website could beat me in a race, simply due to the skill level I have reached in the game. The same cannot be said for games such as Mario Kart Wii, where I have been ranked as high as #27 on the global ranking, at one point holding several WR's (I only hold 1 WR now); even a much less-skilled player can occasionally win, and that is what's wrong with the series.

I actually Agree... Nintendo has been trying to make Games less Competitive and less difficult, or Less need of Skill. After Mario Kart DS, The Mario Kart Series went downhill in Competitiveness. Also the New Super Mario Bros. Series like you mentioned is taking the same route. New Super Mario Bros. on DS was a bit challenging at first and has good Replay Value, but After that one, the others in the series just aren't as difficult or challenging. They are fun... but I don't play for JUST Fun anymore. If it isn't challenging, I prefer not to play so much. This is why they should add difficulties to Games, and not just set it to one difficulty. Even then, it wouldn't be much better, but maybe enough to keep players like me still playing. I might play Mario Kart 8, but Not for Serious Competitiveness, maybe I will play just to have fun with some friends.

In all New Super Mario Bros games, you can play with a very hard difficult but it's up to you.
Start a level in small mario and try to collect the 3 star coins in a row everywhere slurp

I guess that's true, but It would get boring fast too. Mario Games in the Past were challenging from the start, these new ones, any great player can master the game half-way beating the game. So Playing in Hard mode wouldn't be that hard afterwards...
