Reminder of decision taken the last 09th May 2020:
Cases of unavailable games and uncompetitive records
If the situation of unavailable games has always existed, it has become more acute since the advent of mobile and digital games, on PCs and consoles alike.
Moreover, on VGR, competition must remain fair and it is not considered fair play to have games that are no longer available, nor different according to the versions of the game or the consoles, etc.
So in the next version of VGR, it will be made possible to "disable" games that are no longer available so that they are no longer taken into account in the overall ranking. They will however remain available so that players wishing to play them can still post their records.
Beyond their availability, these games (especially mobile games) will also have to be played in the same way and therefore with the same version to have a fair competition.
Now I suggest you to put here the list of games you know, that are now unavailable, and which should be deactivated (soon, theorically) for rankings:
Tetris (IOS/Android):
not available since April 21th, 2020
Galaga Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition (IOS/Android):
not available since June, 30th 2016

Flow 20000+: mentioned by daftpunk since July, 11th 2020, not available on IOS or Android anymore.
Flappy Bird: not available since Februar, 9th 2014 (source: Wikipedia page)
Super Mario Bros. 35 (Switch): this game is temporary, Nintendo announced it will be no longer available after March,31th 2021.

I suggest to add the URL of all store for all support in the game request to verifiy the availability like (for mobile games and digital games)

If there is no link available, yes unrank the game.
If there is any difference compare to the "real" or original game, then you should propose a new version of the game, like "Game Name (external website name version)".
Remember basics for adding games: when you propose to group or not different systems, you need to be sure that the mixed versions that you propose are exactly the same, in order to fairly compete in it.

What about if a game is not listed in the store but still avaible from external websites?
What we COULD do, but we have to discuss about it, for the Android/ios... games, is having the same apk. for every members, and only playing this one, if the game is not available anymore.
Let say a game is not available anymore on the app store. However, somebody still have the apk. on his laptop, and it run perfectly on every phone.
Then, we could link the apk. into the page of the game itself on VGR, or letting a link on how getting it if ppl want to compete on it.
It could work if the game is desactivated, or if it's not.
That just an idea that came in mind.
But, it can't exist for softwares like PC or xbox (virtual consoles) games, because you can't "store" them as you can for mobile games.
Tell us more when you come to a conclusion =)
I propose that these games have a download link from only certain bigger unofficial stores like: APKPure; ApkMirror; Aptoide and Apk-DL. (For safety)

Due to the actual problems/bugs with rankings (team leaderboard and all game rankings), we can't take care of this big update for VGR, decided since May, 2020.
But remind and note that this unavailable games can finally now be "unranked", so be prepared for some changes in the next weeks (at least for the 9 games listed upthere)...
Also, it's always time to complete the list of concerned games, if you can.

Nintendo stop this service, but still available to play on it, if you buy this before it was removed.
I try help VGR with Playstation game, the majority of my game are Digital. So i must check if the game has send on Physical, because Playstation Store has removed many game and DLC.
I went and looked through the entire list of Android games on VGR and found 14 games that should be unranked. For these games I couldn't find any Apk's or they have only 1 Apk on shady websites we cant trust.
Super Ghost Adventure/ Pokémon: Super Haunter
I found Apk's for Tetris, Galaga Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition, Flappy Bird and Blendoku. These games can still be downloaded and played if we provide a URL to the correct Apk store.
I didn't check any flow games availability since I think we need a separate topic about those games in general.
There is over 100 Android games that isn't on the Official Play Store anymore but I'm willing to provide links to safe Apk websites where they are still available. I suggest adding a Download section to Android games where a Admin can insert the URL.
Edit: Another reason we should add a Download section for Android games is to stop people from playing the wrong games or versions. Version differences needs to be posted in each affected game's rules.

I think it would be nice to make this regularly, 1 time per year or 2 years I think, in order to make match the VGR rankings with actual reality of video games.
So now, can you provide here in this topic the URL safe APK links of Tetris, Galaga Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition, Flappy Bird, Blendoku, and the +100 Android games ?
I know it is a long work to do, but as you understood, now it becomes necessary, to be sure that people not played with unofficial/bugged/cracked/cheated versions of all these games.
As always, VGR is based on fair comparaison in equal game versions. Otherwise, rankings have no sense.
For the moment (since 15th August actually), there is again some little bugs on VGR for score editions, rankings... so I don't want to unrank this list until bugs are totally fixed.
So it will be done later.
For indications of download links, your suggestion should be developed, I agree this, it will be notified.
But in the interval (months ?), I (or you, more directly) can put the URL links in concerned game forums.

This is already reported for discussion for the next Council meeting (date not programmed yet), even if your informations are clear about the actual unavailability of Wii Virtual Consoles.
Sorry if there is few communication for this at the moment (or even not at all, like for Platform Rankings, which is really new compare to the previous v6 VGR version), we are busy (or almost absent for some of us) for different reasons.
I think we will finally find time to apply previous decisions, soon, but step by step.

En 2019, la chaîne boutique Wii ouverte depuis décembre 2006 et utilisée sur la Wii et la Wii U (la chaîne boutique Wii étant accessible sur Wii U via la fonctionnalité de rétrocompatibilité avec la Wii) cessera d'exister. Nous souhaitons remercier nos fidèles clients pour avoir apporté leur soutien à la chaîne boutique Wii et nous espérons qu'ils continueront d'apprécier leurs logiciels téléchargés depuis la boutique.
Nous prévoyons de fermer tous les services relatifs à la chaîne boutique Wii, comme l'achat de titres WiiWare, de logiciels de la console virtuelle, le téléchargement de chaînes Wii, et l'utilisation de l'outil de transfert Wii U qui permet de transférer des données de la Wii à la Wii U.
Date de fermeture de chaque service
- L'ajout de points à la chaîne boutique Wii : lundi 26 mars 2018 à 22h.
- L'achat de titres WiiWare, de logiciels de la console virtuelle, le téléchargement de chaînes Wii (y compris les logiciels gratuits)* : jeudi 31 janvier 2019 à 7h.

Asphalt 7 = Large App, I can't upload files to check if download is safe. Players will have to find the game on their own. Keep game ranked.

F1 Challenge 99-02 = Game was never on Android. Please remove Android Platform.

The games I say I can't find Safe Apk's for was determined by downloading and scanning them through certain virus/spyware scanners and if it was marked Suspicious or Malicious, I can't provide those games Apk's.
I will edit this post to reflect the status of the games when reported done.

So, for Android/IOS smartphone games, only 94 Seconds Sports will be concerned with deactivation for the moment, finally. This game is now deactivated, done.
For Switch, Super Mario. 35 is also concerned. This game is now deactivated, done.
For Wii Virtual Console games, it will be discussed in Council, I prefer to wait for a common decision. Even if it seems logical and probable to apply a deactivation, we need to make a split of these games, first.
I will make a general message to advert people again for this changes, later.
For Android games, there's a lot of them that aren't on the store anymore.
Flow Dot comes to mind. But in most cases, if not all, you can get a backup from somewhere on the Internet .apk this is nothing new.
For WiiVC I still don't see the reason to split them, I still don't get it.
The Unavailable list is done. I added links to Safe Apk's on many Android games. (on their game forum)
