Teams and Platinum Medals

I believe it's time for VGR to consider being consistent with platinum medals.  This column needs to be added like everywhere else on the site, and teams accordingly ranked.

I could write a long argument about how platinum medals have more merit, and how tables ranking platinum medals actually selects for game masters and not low-skilled gold/tie-hunting.  But you guys know about this already, which is why platinum medals were introduced here.

I don't even think this ought to require a debate, of course people who think they will lose position in the standings will make up some bogus counter-argument to what I've presented here.

It's time to be consistent across the site that platinum medals are the most valuable and need be accounted for separately.

A lot of people thinks it is based on platinium anyway. So yeah, let's switch.

I am for this too, but I hope you realize that if this change happens, Then Instead of the Current system, where All the team's Golds are added up, It will have to change to the Actual Team Placement on a record. I Will try to explain: on Records with many ties, if a Team has 3 people tied in first, then they add 3 Gold Medals to the team, but if the System changes, then those golds wouldn't add to the Team. Instead, its their Team Placement on that Record. So if that team of 3 people tied for first have the most points combined, then they would have 1 Platinum and 1 Gold added to the team.
Example: If you look at the Team Leaderboard of Level 1 - A, you will see that both ProGaming and The BlackFire would get 1 Gold with the new System instead of the 3 Golds both teams get with the Current System. Also All the other Players that are tied would not add Golds to their Team.
In Level 1 - C, The BlackFire would get a Platinum and 1 Gold.

About 60-80% of all Team Golds would be lost, So This Transition to Team Platinums would change the Whole Team Medal Rankings, just like the Platinums Changed the Single Player Medal Rankings. It will also change what the Medal System is. The Current system is a more \"If I get a Gold, I help the Team\". With the New System, it would be more like \"I Need to get Every Team Member on this Record to have the Team Platinum!\". So A Bad Team With More Players on a record than a Good Team could easily get a Team Platinum. I hope I explained it. Its Hard to explain exactly what I mean, but I can try to clarify if someone doesn't understand what I mean.
Again, I Support this Change, But I Want to Make sure you know what you are asking for.

Honestly Dark Eon I have no idea what you mean, about it changing to 'team placements'.  You lost me...

Imagine a team with 3 members.
Member 1: 10 platinums, 20 golds, 5 silver, 1 bronze
Member 2: 8 platinums, 8 golds, 2 silver, 1 bronze
Member 3: 21 platinums, 100 golds, 12 silver, 8 bronze

I'm not asking for some weird change as you were describing about changing to team placements.  I have a very simple request.  Sort teams by total platinum medals of its members.  Rather than being sorted by the teams 128 golds, they would be sorted by the fact that they have 39 platinum medals.  The number of golds would be used as a tiebreaker with other teams.

Looks like we have some support already for the change, please consider this mods.  Gold medals alone do not indicate any skill, because VGR adds lots of easy, tie-able charts.  To counter abuse, we should sort everything by platinums, members and teams alike.

Prenz, I See what you mean by the Team Platinums. I agree with what you say about gold not proving anything other than being able to tie with others. And I could try to explain better what I meant in my First Post, but there is no use since What you are asking for is different than what I explained. I would of liked it better if it was the way I explained it, but I Am still For the Team Platinums. So Far everyone likes the Team Platinums Idea Presented by you, but I don't know if many of the mods will be completely for this at first. Some convincing might have to be done. We will have to wait and see.

It was probably just forgotten to update this page with platinum medals.
It's the only logical conclusion to rank it by plats aswell.

Well, who is VGR's 'Supreme Leader' that we need to get the attention of?  Hehe...
