That never happened to me. I always play with Totodile--Feraligatr on pokemon gold. and with torchick--Blaziken on pokemon ruby and with pikachu on pokemon yellow, and they never disobey me.

I've been unlucky but, like you, I always pick Feraligatr on Gold too

I'm fairly sure it is true. I've never experienced my own Pokémon disobeying me. The badges are just for ones you get from other people in trade.

Also it's possible to trade your starter at the first opportunity, level it to 100 in another game then trade it back. It'll obey your commands because you are the original trainer.

My Pokemon Leaf Green record used Squirtle as starter, and used him for battles, and HM slaves for HM's.

I didn't trade Pokemon because some people may not be able to trade.

Depending on the Hall of Fame time, you can tell if trading was used or not.


As for the split, I don't think Fire Red and Leaf Green should be split because you can get a cut slave, and flying slave easily.
Blastoise would be used for surf.
